The movie begins with Sultan Ali Khan (Salman Khan) as a young boy, who is fascinated by wrestling. He meets a local wrestler, Coach Issac (Wahid Qadri), who trains him. Sultan's talent and dedication soon make him a national champion. However, his life takes a dramatic turn when he meets Rani (Anushka Sharma), a wrestler from Punjab, who becomes his love interest.
