The movie begins with Bryan Mills, a former CIA operative, living a quiet life in Los Angeles with his estranged wife Lenore (Famke Janssen) and their daughter Kim (Maggie Grace). However, their lives are turned upside down when Kim travels to Paris for a European trip and gets kidnapped by a human trafficking ring.
